Elliot Spitzer

This of the most shocking stories in recent New York history. But why is it so shocking? Zina (adultery) is a big part of American society. Unfortunatelly, in our society men have many casual affairs. This is none other than other form of polygamy. The only thing is that men having extra-martial relationships are commonly accepted - to degree, yet when Islam allow men to marry more than one women this is strongly condemned by many in our society. Are men naturally prone to "need" more than one women?

Perhaps all the controversy is because he was the one who said, "Everything changes on January 1st." He ran on a reformist platform. On that level, there are many who are amzed at the hipocracy of the whole situation.

Or perhaps the amazement is due the the claimed high prices, Governer Elliot was paying for prostitutes?

Hope to hear your comments.

  1. I think the whole situation would have gotten a lot less press if it were "merely" zina. The issue isn't so much that he cheated on his wife, but that he paid for sex and possibly laundered money... so that has *legal* implcations if a public official in his position is found guilty of a crime.

  2. I am quite sure that Governer Spitzer is/was not the first politician to pay for sex. It is true that he built up a lot of enemies due to his going after Wall Street and others while he was the Attorney General. Brother, do you think that this may have been all the working of those who simnly wanted to get even with him? As for the common folk, I think the biggest amazement is the hypocracy of the true Spitzer adn his "good boy" image.
